"When looking at the history of jazz, the thread quickly leads to West Africa. The giant of West African Music was undoubtably Nigeria's Fela Kuti. Dubbed in the Guardian as Africa's answer to Handel, Fela said that "classical music gives musicians a kick, African music gives everyone a kick". Fela's Afrobeat lives on and here is an illustration of Seun Kuti's "African Smoke" where silhouettes of dancers and silhouettes of fighters are indistinguishable."
